The Best CV Tools in Norway: an Honest Comparison (2026)

There are now a dozen Norwegian tools promising to fix your CV and cover letter with AI. They do not do the same job, and prices run from nothing to several hundred kroner a month. This page compares them on what actually separates them.

Two things up front, because we make one of the tools on the list (CVHelp): we are listed among the others rather than above them, and every price below was checked on 25 August 2026 on the provider's own pricing page, with a link, so you can verify it yourself.

One fact matters more than any feature comparison if you are not Norwegian: every tool in this category except ours is Norwegian-only. Not just the interface — the advice, too. That shapes most of what follows.

First: these are two different products

Most of the confusion here comes from two very different things sharing the name "CV tool".

CV builders give you a document. You fill in fields, pick a template, download a PDF. Useful when you have no CV, or when the one you have looks like it was written in 2009. GratisCV, CV-malen, CVapp and Jobbki belong here.

Analysis tools give you a judgement. You submit the CV you already have together with a specific job posting, and learn how well the two fit. Cvenn and CVHelp belong here. FINN's JobbMatch does something related, but against your FINN profile rather than your document.

If you need a CV you do not have, a builder is the right tool and an analysis is wasted. If you have a CV that gets no replies, it is the other way round.

Five things worth comparing

• What the free tier actually gives you. Almost everyone has one, and they hand out very different things: a finished PDF, three cover letters, or an assessment.
• What happens to your CV. Most tools store your documents, because the product requires it. That is not wrong in itself, but it is a trade-off worth making on purpose.
• Language. If you do not read Norwegian, most of the field drops away.
• Whether the tool invents things. Some features generate "achievements" from a job title. That puts claims in your CV that you never earned.
• Whether the price is published. Several of the larger players show no price until you have created an account.

The tools

Prices come from each provider's own pricing page, checked 25 August 2026. "Not published" means we found no price without creating an account — it does not mean the service is free.

Which one fits your situation

You have no CV at all. Start with a builder. GratisCV's free tier actually produces a finished document with PDF export, which is the shortest path from nothing to something you can send. CV-malen and CVapp have more and better-looking templates but cost more, and CVapp's free tier only exports TXT.

You have a CV but get no replies. The template is rarely the problem. Use a tool that reads your document against a specific posting: Cvenn or CVHelp. Why you get no replies covers the usual causes.

You are applying on FINN and want a quick signal. JobbMatch is free and already sits at the bottom of the ad. Just know what the percentage reads — we wrote about that here.

You are new in Norway and Norwegian is not your first language. This is where the field thins out to almost nothing. The other tools are Norwegian-language products that assume you already know the norms behind the advice: how long a Norwegian CV is, why the tone is understated, what a søknad is, whether to apply in Norwegian or English. That gap is the reason CVHelp exists, and it is also the reason we recommend ourselves to this specific group — take that recommendation with the bias it carries, and test the free tier before paying.

You want interview practice. Jobbki has text-based interview practice. CVHelp has it with your voice. Neither replaces practising with a person.

Three things we think are worth knowing

An "Achievement Generator" is not a gift. GratisCV describes the feature in its own words: "Skriv inn en stillingstittel og få resultatbaserte kulepunkter" — enter a job title and get result-based bullet points. The bullets come from the title, not from the work you did. Paste them in unchanged and your CV claims results you never achieved, which is exactly the kind of line a recruiter asks a follow-up question about. Our own rule is never to invent experience: we only rephrase what is already in your CV.

A number without a source is marketing. Several tools in this category publish figures like "X% higher chance" with no source. We publish no number we cannot point to a source for, including when that is inconvenient for us.

None of us has a public reputation to lean on. We looked for independent reviews of the tools in this category and found essentially nothing — for anyone, ourselves included. So judge the free tier yourself before paying, wherever you go.

Where we fall short

For the record, since we are a party here: CVHelp does not build CVs. If you have no CV to upload, our tool does nothing for you and you should use one of the builders above. We also store nothing, which means your documents are not waiting for you next time — a deliberate choice, but a downside too.

Common questions

Is there a completely free option? Yes. FINN's JobbMatch is free, and several builders have free tiers that produce a finished PDF, usually limited to one CV.

Is more expensive better? Prices in this category run from 49 to 329 kroner a month without the features separating that much. Decide whether you need a builder or an analysis first, then look at price.

Can I just use ChatGPT? You can, and many people do. The difference is calibration against Norwegian norms, and the fact that a general chat tool will happily fill in experience you do not have. More on that on our front page.
