The NAV CV Service on arbeidsplassen.no Has Closed — What Now?

If you have been looking for the CV tool on arbeidsplassen.no and cannot find it, it is not you: the service no longer exists. NAV's own pages state plainly that «CV-tjenesten ble lagt ned 1. oktober 2025» — the CV service was discontinued on 1 October 2025 — and that you can use the Europass CV tool instead, which is free.

It is worth knowing what you lost, what you did not lose, and what a sensible next step looks like.

What still exists at NAV

• The job search on arbeidsplassen.no. The listings database is there as before, and it remains one of the broadest places to look for work in Norway.
• Min CV if you are under NAV follow-up. If you are registered as a jobseeker receiving follow-up from NAV, your CV is still available via nav.no/min-cv.
• Guidance content. Written tips on applications and job hunting are still published.

What disappeared was the tool itself — the place where you built and stored a CV as part of the public service open to everyone.

Is Europass right for you?

Europass is the EU's free CV tool, and NAV points there. It works, it costs nothing, and it is safe to use. But two things are worth knowing before you rely on it:

• The Europass format is European, not Norwegian. It is designed to be comparable across countries, and it tends to produce a longer, more form-like document than a Norwegian recruiter is used to reading. The Norwegian norm is 1–2 pages, a restrained tone, and results rather than duties.
• A tool for writing is not the same as an assessment. Europass helps you fill in fields. It says nothing about whether the content matches the job you are actually applying for.

The alternatives, briefly

• Europass — free, European format, no assessment of the content.
• An ordinary word processor. A clean document in Word or Google Docs, saved as PDF, is entirely acceptable in Norway — and often easier to parse than a design template with columns and text boxes. See ATS-friendly CV.
• Commercial CV builders. Several Norwegian services offer templates and subscriptions. They build the document, but prices vary a lot, and some generate «achievements» you never had — a bad idea to walk into an interview with.
